Who we are

Our Pastors

Rev. Dr. Rick Loader

Bridge Minister

I have always felt more led to the ministry, than called. I was brought up in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Louisville where my father, an active Elder and my mother, an active servant of the gospel, took their six children – (I was #4, born in 1952) – to church weekly. As we got older, they took us twice weekly. One of my sisters Elizabeth Paule Loader was named for Dr. Paul S. Stauffer, minister at the time of her birth.

I couldn’t have quoted 1 Peter 2.4-5, but I was raised in the deep faith that the people of the church being the “priesthood of all believers.  I have been inspired by the faith of children, youth and adults as I served the church in Louisville, Frankfort, Burkesville, Lexington (Arlington CC), Shepherdsville, and then 23 years in Bardstown. My wife Trina and I still live in Bardstown.

From there I have served part-time in Crofton and now in Mayfield. In Mayfield, I have been inspired by the people of First Christian who have maintained their faith in God as they recover from the tornado that took out their building. Every new person who shares their faith with us enriches us with an even deeper belief that God continues to lead us.

Steve Clark

Music Director

I was raised in Graves County and have been singing and playing music in church since the age of 8. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Murray State University and have had the privilege of serving in four different congregations over the years.

Currently, I serve as the music minister at First Christian Church in Mayfield, KY, where I plan, prepare, and lead the music for our worship services. Whether directing the choir, leading congregational singing, or playing the keyboard, piano—or once, our beloved pipe organ—I strive to enrich worship through meaningful music. Some moments call for quiet reverence, others for joyful celebration, and I feel honored to help create those experiences through song.

In addition to church services, I’m available to provide music for weddings, funerals (celebrations of life), and special events. I also love teaching and helping others discover how music can become their own form of expression—it’s certainly been mine for as long as I can remember.
