Steve Clark

Director of Music

I was raised in Graves County and have been passionately singing and playing music in church since I was just 8 years old. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Murray State University, which prepared me for the honor of serving in four different congregations throughout my journey. Currently, I am the music minister at First Christian Church in Mayfield, KY, where I take pride in planning, preparing, and leading inspiring music for our worship services. Whether I’m directing the choir, leading congregational singing, or playing the keyboard, or our cherished piano, my mission is to elevate worship through the power of meaningful music. Some moments call for quiet reverence, while others demand joyful celebration, and I am deeply honored to create these transformative experiences through song.  Psalm 150:3-6 beautifully captures the essence of my calling: "Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!"

As the Music Director, I proudly serve as the Music/Worship Leader for our church, spearheading a music ministry that ignites inspiration and deepens congregational worship and fellowship. My role engages individuals of all ages in diverse musical experiences and educational opportunities, promoting music as a vital element of genuine corporate and personal worship as well as spiritual growth. Together, let’s create a vibrant community where music uplifts our hearts and souls.

Beyond our worship services, I am also available to provide music for weddings, funerals (celebrations of life), and special events. I am passionate about teaching and guiding others in discovering how music can serve as their own form of expression—it has certainly been mine for as long as I can remember.

Membership Board Member
Debra Moffitt

The First Christian Church of Mayfield has been a significant part of my life since childhood. I have many wonderful memories of youth groups, trips, and the lasting friendships that shaped my early faith. Although life took me away for several years, I returned to Mayfield as my parents, Bill and Jessie Vance, grew older. Both were devoted members of FCC, and my mother faithfully served as a Deacon. Following in her footsteps is both a joy and an honor. After the devastating tornado, I felt called by God to return to this church to contribute to its healing and renewal. Today, I serve as Membership Chairman, with a strong desire to help our congregation grow and thrive—restoring the sense of community and spirit I cherished in my youth. My husband, Mike Moffitt, is also a member of FCC, and together we have found strength, growth, and a sense of family within this church. Without children or siblings of our own, we are especially grateful to call FCC our family. We truly love this church and the people who make it so special. "Therefore, welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." Romans 15:17 To fervently pray, strategically plan, and actively work towards cultivating authentic family relationships among all attendees of First Christian Church, we aim to nurture connections with one another and with God, thereby enhancing our sense of community. **Membership Engagement** involves proactively updating the membership role using Constant Contact to ensure effective communication. We also create welcoming visitor folders to improve the first-time experience and implement timely follow-ups with new visitors, which include personalized phone calls and meaningful personal visits. **Hospitality Leadership** oversees the scheduling of warm and friendly door greeters. We encourage all members to embrace their unique gifts, talents, and interests, promoting active and meaningful engagement in the life of the congregation. **Fellowship Enhancement** is responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing delightful food and refreshment experiences at church events as requested by staff or ministry leaders. We design and organize periodic fellowship activities that bring the community together, such as potlucks, game nights, holiday celebrations, and color picnics, covering both location and menu. We also oversee the purchase of essential kitchen supplies and ensure the availability of coffee and snacks every Sunday morning. Additionally, we facilitate special observances that honor significant moments within the church family, including confessions of faith, membership acknowledgments, and milestones such as graduations and farewells. By embracing these responsibilities, we can truly enhance the sense of belonging and community within First Christian Church, making it a vibrant and nurturing space for everyone.

Proverbs 17:17 reminds me, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity,” while 1 Corinthians 16:14 encourages, “Let all that you do be done in love.” These verses highlight the value of family unity and guide me in my spiritual journey.
